Como ficará a dupla brasileira para 2026, afinal?

Para a edição WRTC de 2026, a América do Sul foi contemplada com duas vagas e apenas uma delas (SA1) abrange o Brasil. O autor desta nota é “Team Leader” e só obteve o posto em virtude de colegas sabidamente mais qualificados não terem encontrado tempo para disputar a posição. Como mencionado na publicação de 23.7.2025 (primeiro link acima) aqui neste ‘blog’, PY2NY é o “Team Leader” e escolhe, pela regra, o “Team Mate”. A ideia foi acompanhar a classificação dentro do Brasil observando a regra do WRTC com a pontuação mínima de 3000, mas não necessariamente indo tão longe. Isto já foi também informado na publicação anterior.

Em 2022 para o evento na Itália, PY2NY convidou os dois radioamadores licenciados no Brasil que se classificaram na sequência - PP5JR e PY2ZEA/OH2MM. Por motivos de variadas ordens, não puderam atender o convite, gerando chamado para outro “qualificado” ao redor do mundo com pontuação muito boa, na época. Assim, quase sem querer, a dupla SA4 (então SA4) em 2022 foi formada por dois luso-brasileiros (PY2NY e PY2SEX). Dito isto, e considerando a tabela de qualificação final para 2026, a ideia de convocação foi exatamente a mesma, com os radioamadores licenciados no Brasil: PY7ZC, PY2EX e como backup, PY2NA.

Logo no primeiro contato com PY7ZC, Marco Antonio Hardmeier, o convite para ser “Team Mate” foi aceito e assim, está encerrado o procedimento de escolha - PY2NY e PY7ZC representação PY-Land em no WRTC Londres 2026. Se houver algum imprevisto com PY7ZC, o convite será então destinado ao Eger, PY2EX.

Marco está radicado no Brasil mas é suiço pelo nascimento (HB9OCR/HB9MH). Soma 49 anos de idade e é radioamador desde 12.8.1994, tendo operado a partir de diversos países ao redor do mundo. Em 2012, PY2NY e PY7ZC fizeram parte de um grupo de radioamadores de várias nações operando o CQWW SSB em Multi/Multi desde Antigua & Barbuda, V26B.

Agora, o relógio passa a ser importante. Marco é mais otimista e pretende que a dupla SA1 se coloque entre 30 e 40 na classificação final em Londres. PY2NY é mais pé-no-chão e acha plausível entre 40 e 50.

For 2026 WRTC, South America was awarded with two spots, and only one of them (SA1) includes Brazil. The author of this note is "Team Leader" and only obtained the position because his colleagues, who were clearly more qualified, did not find time to compete for the position. As mentioned in the 23.7.2026 publication (first link above) here on this blog, PY2NY is the "Team Leader" and can choose, by the rules, his "Team Mate." The idea was to follow the classification within Brazil, observing the WRTC rules with a minimum score of 3000 (for Team Mate), but not necessarily going that far. This was told in the previous “blog” post.

In 2022, for the same event in Italy, PY2NY tried to invite those two Brazilian-licensed ops who qualified next - PP5JR and PY2ZEA/OH2MM. For various reasons, they were unable to accept the invitation, which ultimately led to call for another "qualifier" from around the world with a very good score at the time. This is how, almost unintentionally, the SA4 duo (then SA4) in 2022 was formed by two Portuguese-Brazilians guys (PY2NY e PY2SEX). That said, and considering the final qualifying table for 2026, the invitation idea was exactly the same with licensed radio amateurs in Brazil: PY7ZC, PY2EX and like backup, PY2NA.

Right from the first contact with PY7ZC, Marco Antonio Hardmeier, the invitation to be “Team Mate” was accepted and with that, the selection procedure was closed - PY2NY and PY7ZC representing PY-Land at WRTC London 2026. If there is any unforeseen event with PY7ZC, the invitation will then be sent to Eger, PY2EX.

Marco is based in Brazil but is Swiss by birth (HB9OCR/HB9MH). He is 49 years old and has been a Amateur Radio op since August 12, 1994, having operated from several countries around the world. In 2012, PY2NY and PY7ZC were part of a group from various nations operating CQWW SSB in Multi/Multi from Antigua & Barbuda, V26B.

Now, the clock becomes important. Marco is more optimistic and expects the SA1 duo to place between 30 and 40 in the final standings in London. PY2NY is more down-to-earth and thinks a plausible finish be;tween 40 and 50 is possible.
