Não consigo permanecer 48 horas acordado, ao menos “naturalmente”. As madrugadas são mais sofridas porque o movimento desce bastante e a ausência de agitação chama o sono. Para o CQWW SSB 2025 fiz duas paradas de 3 horas para dormir, além de algo mais para almoço.

I can't stay awake for 48 hours, at least not “naturally”. The early mornings are more difficult because there's less movement and the lack of activity encourages sleep. For CQWW SSB 2025 I made two 3 hour stops to sleep, plus something else for lunch.

Outro grande desafio, de há muito, é participar na condição "Low Power" com até 100w de potência, algo como uma lâmpada forte. Nessa condição, é mais difícil, por exemplo, manter uma frequência, já que as grandes estações nem se dão conta de que você está ali há mais tempo. A dificuldade é potencializada na operação da banda de 80m, que depende de antenas de fio enormes, algo que não tenho em PY2NY.

Another long-standing challenge is participating in the "Low Power" category, with up to 100W, something like a bright light bulb. In this mode, it's more difficult, for example, to keep a frequency, since the "big guns" don't even realize you've been there for longer. The difficulty is even higher when operating the 80m band, which relies on huge wire antennas, something I don't have in PY2NY.

Durante a competição, um radioamador amigo da Argentina se disse impressionado pela quantidade de brasileiros presentes nas bandas.

During the competition, a friend from Argentina said he was impressed by the number of Brazilians present on the bands.

A novidade para 2025 foi ter investido um pouco no aterramento da torre, ainda que de maneira provisória. Pode ser coincidência, mas isso parece ter melhorado um pouco o rendimento da AlphaDelta DXA Sloper para 80m e 160m, resultando em incríveis 5 zonas e 7 países na banda de 80m.

Vamos ver se depois da checagem final dos logs, esses números se sustentam, diante das dificuldades em completar os contatos.

The new development for 2025 was a small investment grounding the tower, albeit temporarily. May be a coincidence, but this appears to have slightly improved the AlphaDelta DXA Sloper's performance on 80m and 160m, resulting in an incredible 5 zones and 7 countries on the 80m band.

Let's see if, after the final log checking, these numbers hold up, given the difficulties to complete the contacts.

2024 foi o primeiro ano usando rádios YAESU com novas tecnologias, a princípio com o FTDX10 e no segundo semestre com o FTDX101d. A diferença para o velho FT1000MP MKV Field é perceptível.

2024 was the first year using YAESU radios with new technologies, initially with FTDX10 and after July with the FTDX101d. The difference to the old FT1000MP MKV Field is noticeable.
